I’ve always had a fascination for photographing archaeological sites. I feel somehow spiritual and thoughtful when I walk through ancient ruins. I find myself, be a burial site or a grand palace. I have been all around the World, but this time I decide to explore my own home turf. Sardinia sits in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, is an ancient land still full of undiscovered mysteries about ancient civilisations.
My visit must start with one of the best-preserved Nuraghi of the island. The function of the site is still unclear, some think it was used for ceremonial purposes, others as a living village. One thing is certain, it’s an extraordinary piece of engineering.
A long overdue visit to the Tombs of the Giants is a must. Unusual burial sites, that for some are linked to people taller than 2 meters. Quite unusual for a population that is renowned to be short (or shorter than any other Italian population).
The House of the Fairies are a type of pre-Nuragic chamber tombs found in Sardinia, and they were built mostly between 3400 and 2700 BC.
I decided to see the sunset and beyond, to include the Milky Way in my shots.
